About Us

Tersaks Family Martial Arts Academy in Jacksonville, FL, is committed to safety, implementing modifications to ensure everyone's well-being. Established in 2015, we proudly serve Nocatee, Julington Creek, Fleming Island, St. Johns, Orange Park, Ponte Vedra, and surrounding areas. Our academy offers karate, jiu-jitsu, self-defense for men and women, and mixed martial arts classes. For child instruction they just do things better. Quality of instruction, teacher to student ratio (routinely at least 1 coach per 5 children), and communication is just top of what I’d ever expected. Every coach knows every child’s name. A lot of parents look to martial arts to support their child’s focus and sense of respect, and they get that. Expectations are high, and consistently reinforced. “Yes sir, yes ma’am, active listening. It’s taught and actively reinforced. Each lesson also ends with a discussion on values and topics like bullies, nutrition, respect, and truthfulness. Even the younger class of 3 year olds (Dino mites) does an amazing job of using “play” to reinforce listening and other skills. It isn’t cheap, but for quality of instruction it’s second to none.

We’ve been going to Tersak’s Family Martial Arts Academy for about a year now, and I can’t recommend it enough! My 4- and 2-year-old sons absolutely love it. The instructors are amazing with kids — patient, fun, and always encouraging. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, which makes every visit a great experience. What I appreciate most is that even my 1-year-old has space to play safely while his brothers are in class, which is a huge help as a parent! It truly feels like a family environment where kids not only learn martial arts but also build confidence, discipline, and friendships. This is so much more than just a karate school! The staff and the facility are both outstanding. They really care about each student and how they can help each one on their journey. Our whole family has been attending (2 adults and a 13 year old) since 2020. My son's confidence and strength have both improved and I have no doubt he can defend himself going into middle school. But he's also learned when and how to use what he knows, and that's so important! They also discuss healthy habits like healthy eating, hygiene, homework, confidence in speaking, dealing with bullying and SO much more. As parents, we joined for the workout and to do something as a family. The adult group is growing like crazy! We have made some great friends there and we've both improved in our strength and abilities. Our training is more of a focus than we had ever originally planned! Definitely recommend trying it out, you'll be hooked!
